Spread the Holiday Spirit

Spread the Holiday Spirit

The holidays are finally here, bringing with them all of the traditional sights and scents we’ve come to love over the years. Ornaments, lights, wreaths, cinnamon, and firewood fill our homes as we welcome friends and family.  However, if you’re looking to add a little more spirit to your next get-together, there’s no better place to start than the very place your guests gather around – the dinner table.  Here’s a collection of unique ideas to set the table and raise the bar on your holiday décor.

RUSTIC

What better holiday inspiration is there than the unfinished woods and warm tones of a cozy log cabin? Use fresh evergreens, red ribbons, and red pillar candles for your traditional Christmas color palette. Add a homespun feel with unconventional containers – such as an old wooden toolbox or mason jars – and fill them with pinecones, red berries, and candles of alternating heights. Go a step further and sprinkle a little faux snow on top for the perfect finishing touch to your winter wonderland.

THRIFTY

You don’t need a big budget to make a big impact with this seasonal setup. Natural greenery you’d find on your patio or yard makes for a great centerpiece. You can even take the garlands up a notch by sprinkling in some basic tree ornaments or rustic pinecones. Mason jars, as always, are your friend here. Fill them with votive candles or candy canes and tie a gift-wrapping ribbon around each one to add variety.

TRADITIONAL

There’s a reason some décor is tried and true. Take glass containers, like vases, jars, or bowls, and fill them with a variety of tree ornaments to add color and shine to your table top. If you have any holiday figure sets, such as a nativity or ice skating scene, set them up on the table for your guests to admire. Even go the extra mile and place a miniature evergreen as your centerpiece. Ice the tree with tinsel and mini ornaments, and watch the smiles appear as your guests enjoy the miniature holiday wonderland.

REFINED

Go formal without going over the top with this setup. Small touches of iridescent accents and embellished crisp linens create a fresh and classy look. Circle a centerpiece of all-white flowers with a border of green and red apple wedges (dip the apple wedges in lemon juice prior to the set up to prevent browning). Pale hydrangeas, seeded eucalyptus and strategically placed gold ornaments when set together, make for a seasonal sight to behold.

As you can see, your tabletop can play a vital role in tying your home décor together, and there are countless ways to spice it up for the season. Share these ideas with your friends or surprise them when they show up to your next party. After all, ’tis the season to impress.
