Sullivans Bone In RibeyeDowntown Chicago certainly has no shortage of food, festivities and entertainment but through all the noise and hulabaloo, it’s not always easy to find a laid-back suitable spot for an exceptional date night meal experience. Sullivan’s is an oasis, offering a tranquil setting and some of the best steaks, jazz and martinis in town.
Stepping inside the door of Sullivan’s Steakhouse on North Dearborn, the city dissipates as the allure of the historic building and intimate table settings settle your senses down for an evening of relaxing conversation and gourmet dining. Top-notch service, white linens and seasonal cocktails provide immediate respite without an air of pretension. This is simply a comfortable, charming quality experience – no glitz or dazzle needed.
No need to rush here either, order up a cocktail, whiskey or glass the extensive selection of award-winning wines. If you need help navigating, an expert sommelier will guide you, suggesting pairing for appetizers, meals or simply a glass that you can savor post or pre-meal.
The starter menu is a little limited, consisting mainly of various soups, greens and seafood offerings, but meat lovers will appreciate the Cheesesteak Eggrolls or Roasted Garlic Meatballs. If seafood tempts you, you’ll find one the best Lump Crabcakes west of the Eastern coast at Sullivan’s. There’s plenty for two to share!
The obvious meal choice at Sullivan’s is any one of their signature hand-cut steaks. If you are new to the restaurant or completely over-whelmed by the selections, the Chicago location offers “The Sure Thing Grand Prix Fixe Menu” with customer favorites and a bonus of a budget-friendly package price.
If you are in the mood for something seasonal, you’ll find an excellent array of specials on the menu and if you are lucky enough to catch the Pumpkin Seed Crusted Halibut on the menu, order up! Paired with a sweet potato puree, this dish will delight your fall taste-buds with knock-out flavors. Other seasonal favorites worth checking out during the holidays are the Sweet Potato Casserole side, Roasted Butternut Squash Soup starter and Slow Braised Beef Short Rib.
When your memorable, satisfying meal has ended, linger for awhile and enjoy the ambiance of Sullivan’s while enjoying an after-dinner drink. If you can manage to squeak a decadent house-made dessert in, the S’mores Mousse Cake brings the outside in with a sweet finish.
After dinner, if weather permits, couples will find a stroll along the nearby Chicago River a romantic end to their date night or if the night calls for it, you’ll find plenty of nearby pubs and bars to catch some late-night entertainment and nightcap.
